PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
I am honored to have been nominated and elected President of our Manchester section. I say this since I've lived in Vermont now for just over four years and am relatively new to hiking and outdoor activity. I chose to make my home here and never a day goes by that I'm not grateful to live and work in such beautiful surroundings. I joined the club shortly after settling in, hoping to make friends and hiking companions. I've enjoyed some great trips with our group and look forward to many more. More importantly, I've discovered a wonderful group of friends. I'm honored to be among such hard working, dedicated people who have already taught me so much about these awesome mountains and the the best way to enjoy them. I've heard interesting presentations from guest speakers, shared great food among friends, and have been made to feel most welcome. Getting out there with a great group of people to do some trail cleanup or help with other maintenance activities is good for the soul (and the body!). We have many volunteer opportunities helping with trail and shelter maintenance. Our section maintains te Long Trail from rt 11/30 to Mad Tom Notch, and maintains the Bromley Shelter and tent sites. Our primary activities during the spring summer and fall are maintenance oriented. We are very proud to have developed a relationship with Burr Burton Academy students who have been helping with trail maitenance for for years. In the winter we plan several group snowshoe trips. You don't need experience, just a desire to get out there, to explore and enjoy the beauty among good company. Please join us.
Respectfully, Alice Goodman (agood001@adelphia.net)
The Manchester Section maintains the portion of the Long Trail from Rt 11/30 over Bromley Mountain, Styles Peak and Peru Peak to Griffith Lake. In the winter we have several group snowshoe hikes. Thanks to all volunteers.
